Growing up in Missouri, she attended the Missouri Thespians Festival annually. Her sophomore year she entered in an Individual Events competition under the monologues category. A month later she received the news that she had received all superior ratings on her performance and was asked to perform at the International Thespians Festival to compete alongside her peers.
